Terms of Service for Torn Spy Network

1. Introduction

The Torn Spy Network is a web-based service designed to allow users within factions and alliances to share spy reports, providing a collaborative tool for gaining a competitive advantage. The service requires you to submit a Torn API key to verify your identity and faction membership, and to contribute spy data.

By using this service and providing your API key, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("ToS"). If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

2. API Key and Data Handling (Torn API)

This service interacts with the Torn API to provide its core features. The following table outlines how your Torn API key and related data are handled in compliance with Torn's API rules.

Data Storage (Will the data be stored for any purpose?)	Persistent - until account deletion. Your Torn User ID and faction ID are stored to manage access. Submitted spy reports are stored in our database. This data persists to provide an ongoing intelligence resource for your faction and any alliances it joins.
Data Sharing (Who can access the data besides the end user?)	Friends, faction & alliances: Submitted spy reports are visible to all verified members of your faction and any alliance your faction is a part of. Service owners: The service administrators (GNSC4) may access the database for maintenance, optimization, and support purposes.
Purpose of Use (What is the stored data being used for?)	Public community tools: To provide a shared intelligence platform for factions and alliances. Competitive advantage: To help your faction make informed decisions during wars and conflicts. Optimization/Maintenance: To ensure the service runs efficiently and to troubleshoot issues.
Key Storage & Sharing (Will the API key be stored securely and who can access it?)	Stored locally in browser / Not stored on server. Your Torn API key is stored temporarily in your browser's session storage for the duration of your login session. It is required to authenticate actions that need special permissions. The key is not stored on our servers, enhancing your security.
Key Access Level (What key access level or specific selections are required?)	Two levels of access are supported: Standard Members: A `Public Only` key is sufficient for all general features like submitting and viewing spy reports. Faction Leaders: A `Limited Access` key with 'Faction' API selections enabled is required to access administrative functions, such as creating and managing alliances.

3. Alliance Management Permissions

The ability to create new alliances or edit existing ones (e.g., inviting or removing members) is restricted. You must meet one of the following criteria to perform these actions:

Be a Faction Leader: You must log in using a Limited Access Torn API key that grants permissions to the Faction API access. The system verifies your leadership status by checking for these specific permissions.

4. Optional TornStats Integration

This service includes an opt-in feature to integrate with TornStats (www.tornstats.com) to display battle statistics alongside spy reports. This feature requires a separate API key from TornStats.

Description	An optional, opt-in integration with TornStats.com to fetch and display a target's battle statistics next to a spy report.
Data Storage	Persistent - until account deletion. Your optional TornStats API key is stored securely in our database, linked to your user account. This allows the service to automatically fetch comparison data for you.
Data Sharing	Nobody: Your TornStats API key is never shared with other users. When you use the feature, our server makes a direct API request to TornStats on your behalf. This interaction is subject to the TornStats Terms of Service.
Purpose of Use	To provide a Competitive advantage by enriching spy data with battle statistics.
Key Storage & Sharing	Stored remotely securely / Used only for automation. Your TornStats API key is stored encrypted in our database and is never transmitted to other users.
Key Access Level	Requires a TornStats API key with permission to access their `spy` endpoint.

5. API Key Security and User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the security of your Torn and TornStats API keys.
Do not share your API keys with anyone unnecessarily. Provide your Torn API key only through the secure form on our website.
If you suspect your Torn API key has been misused, you should immediately revoke it via the Torn preferences page (https://www.torn.com/preferences.php#tab=api) and generate a new one.
The owner of this service is not responsible for any loss or damage resulting from unauthorized access to your Torn account due to a compromised API key, if the compromise is not a direct result of a security flaw within our service.

6. Disclaimer of Liability

The Torn Spy Network service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind.
The service owner shall not be liable for any damages resulting from the use or inability to use the service.
While this service is designed to be fully compliant with Torn's rules, you use it at your own risk.

7. Changes to Terms of Service

We reserve the right to modify or replace this ToS at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide notice. Your continued use of the service after revisions become effective signifies your agreement to the new terms.

8. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Torn Spy Network and submitting your API key, you signify your acceptance of this Terms of Service.
